Illusions on the Edge of Exile engages with a dreamlike hallucination in an ungrounding experience where two diametrically opposite localities blends into one, highlighting a deeply innate yearning for a sense of place. Yet, the untenable nature of such sense in an exilic setting forms the incapacity to exist in neither state. The series elaborates on the universality in the collective diasporic experience, where one’s fleeting physical existence is ungrounded in belonging, of failing to exist in the stark framework of identity grounded only within borders and nationality.
